Stateflow "if" "elseif" statements no longer work inside of stateflow states

I developed a ssimulink model utilizing stateflow. Originally I used a part of an old model which had if statements inside the states. Once I copied into new stateflow chart the coloring went away (No more purple/blue) all letters went black. The statement itself never changed but I received syntax errors when I go to build the model. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I created a brand new simulink model and it allows if statement inside states. What settings could I have messed up? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
