sending an email from google sheets, when a cell colour is red (conditional formatted)

I have a google sheet with a list of equipment. I have a last planner principal in place that drives the dates on the sheet. I am looking for a script, that sends an email to certain address's, when one of the dates goes red. I have a conditional format in place to make the cell go red, if it is passed today's date. For ease of explaining, lets say the sheet name is "Equipment", the row number is "14" and the column number (L) is "12". if the date in this cell goes red, can an email be sent? Any help / advice would be much appreciated.
