How do I make a wordpress post private to author only?

I have wordpress site and I would like to make posts private to their author only. I have seen that the "private" status is reserved for private to admin only.

My approach is completely different. I want the privacy to be to the specific user.

For example I have a post type called "Private Journal Entry", anyone can create a post of that type. However, only the author gets to see the private journal entries he has posted.
