two buttons - if i find this button click it or click the other - Selenium Java

I have a button enabled on empty state and hidden once there is data on the screen. But a different button for same functionality gets enabled. I have to automate this button click to be dynamic.

if you reach empty state click this or click this if page has data. How can I achieve this?

If then else? Switch case?
