Solving nested ifs

Is there a system of solving nested ifs?

The way I'm doing it right now is:

1. list all the conditions and factors
2. list all the possible outcomes
3. eliminate similar cases
4. try grouping the cases in order to reduce nested ifs, which is a big pain.

I'm sure that there is a way to make steps 2 and 4 easier(or to eliminate them altogether
