Print a list from taking inventory

I am working on a code that will take into account ingredients in a cafe and then print a shopping list based on how much of each ingredient you have. The problem I have is that when I make it so that an ingredient is needed, I cannot find a way to add it to a list of sorts. I tried multiple ways to do this including strings. Any ideas?
