How do I stop the editor from destroying my indent when I type else? [closed]

It is so frustrating, whenever I type else, the editor destroys all spaces on the line and puts it on the far left forcing me to type tab several times to reach where I typed it. How do I stop the editor from messing up?

On a general note, how do I revert things it does automatically without being asked?, on mycrosoft word I could at least hit ctrl Z to revert all the nonsense it does with his "smart" automatic nonsense, but here I see no way to do the same.
