Diamond of stars blank inside in C++

I'm trying to make a diamond of * blank inside, something like:

                                *   *
                              *       *
                             *         *
                              *       *
                                *   *
                                  *

On the beginning, the program should ask for the dimensions and in general use loops to make it. How can it be done?
