Changing another cell colour depending on result

please could I have some help on a formula I've been trying to figure out for a while but with no solution as of yet.

It's basically a CRM and we have 3 columns which are follow up stages 2 days after each other

I've made a rule where if that date has passed it highlights the cells in orange so we know to follow it up. But if we get an answer after the first or second follow up I would like to input yes or no in to another cell and it will automatically turn all them dates green or red depending on the answer.

How can I structure this, please?

I've managed to do it with numbers but can't seem to get the same with text and for the rules to overwrite each other.
